For you are my lamp, O LORD, and my God lightens my darkness.

“It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or
be dismayed."

I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near
to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD
delivers him out of them all.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that
you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous,
and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be
frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my
groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest. Yet you are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel. In you our fathers trusted; they trusted, and you delivered them.

The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name
put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

I had said in my alarm, “I am cut off from your sight.” But you heard the voice of my pleas for mercy when I
cried to you for help.

Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise
him, my salvation and my God.

I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of
destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in
my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth
gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though
the mountains tremble at its swelling.

Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead
me to the rock that is higher than I, for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.

When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting. The LORD builds up
Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways
acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.”

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD
shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will
uphold you with my righteous right hand.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water,
that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about
your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the
birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds
them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to
his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will
he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we
eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and
your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his
righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for
tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into
her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But
Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that
my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha,
Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen
the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and
learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light.”

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your
hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called
according to his purpose.

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and
endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame,
because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor
powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction,
with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your
faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and
complete, lacking in nothing.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is
sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of
my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content
with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will
guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your
faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and
complete, lacking in nothing.
